Welcome to Villa Storfors, for your ultimate Sweden experience.

Storfors Villa was built in 1875, a period when the iron industry was flourishing. At that time, the house housed engineers who helped with the development. The park and the surrounding buildings are like a museum, bringing the rich history to life.
Much of the rich past is still visible around Storfors Villa. This includes the oldest fire station (now a museum) in Värmland, Sweden's oldest (still in operation) hydroelectric power plant, a former bathhouse-sauna, a historic washhouse, and a water wheel with a stamping mechanism (used to produce coal), a stately mansion (the director's residence), and a park with a remarkable collection of centuries-old trees.
Storfors Villa is situated in a unique setting... the Bergslagen region!
It is Sweden's largest contiguous lake district! A water paradise set against a backdrop of attractive greenery and rugged wilderness.
It is the most mineral-rich area in the world, resulting in spectacular flora and fauna. An attractive environment for nature and culture lovers.

Numerous (historical) sights, viewpoints, museums, castles, estates, towns, canoeing, cycling, walking, hiking, skiing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and much more. The area offers everything you need for a successful stay.
The landscape is diverse. From gently rolling hills to rugged and rocky, there's plenty of water (large and small lakes, connecting canals), abundant (primeval) forests interspersed with farmland, and the famous red Swedish houses.
In the distant past, iron and mineral mining was very important in the wider area. Transport to Lake Vänern (Sweden's largest lake) was mainly by water. Various canals and (lock) connections were constructed between the many lakes for this purpose. A spectacular example of this can be seen at Bjurbäcken (about a 10-minute drive away). There, the locks bridge a height difference of no less than 20 meters! The locks are over 150 years old and still in operation.

The area around Villa Storfors is perfect for both beginners and experienced hikers. There are numerous marked trails (ranging from 2 to 28 km) that lead you past the most enchanting spots. Creating your own routes and hiking with GPS are also possible. We're happy to recommend the most beautiful spots!
A fifteen-minute drive from Villa Storfors, you'll find Lundsbergs Golfklubb. This nine-hole course is located
between lakes Matlången and Hållsjön. There's rarely a wait, and if you're new to golf, you can attend a free practice session every Tuesday.
Karlstad, Filipstad, Kristinehamn, Örebro, and Karlskoga are all within an hour's drive. These cities are known for their rich cultural heritage. Their museums are highly regarded and feature surprising exhibitions every year.
Karlstad and Örebro are ideal for a day trip.
In Värmland County, there are 239 nature reserves and one nature conservation area, all brimming with diverse nature experiences. Some are easily accessible and offer amenities for visitors. Others are more challenging or perhaps better suited for those seeking peace and quiet. Each nature reserve is unique, so grab your backpack or coffee basket and set off on an adventure!
Do you love flea markets or searching for the best vintage items?
Then the typically Swedish "loppis" is perfect for you. Discover this loppmarknad at various thrift stores, but also in people's homes.
Bjurbäcken Locks is the picturesque cultural-historical lock complex on the Filipstad-Karlskoga waterway. To facilitate transport between the Filipstads Bergslag and Kristinehamn, a canal with locks was built between 1853 and 1857 along the rapids at Bjurbäcken. During the season, you can visit the lock café. There is also an easy walking trail along the canal.
